Gravity Goblins and Confirmation Bias

I’ve got a theory about gravity, not just a theory, an explanation for how gravity works. I can tell you, dear reader, exactly why bodies of mass are drawn together. My theory is clear, simple and above all correct. I know this because I have proven it. The proof is all around, as clear as sky. Allow me to explain… (more…)

Tiger on Fire!

Henk from microdot.be, has got in touch about his “Paper Craft Stress Test” series. He’s graciously selected my Tiger model to test it’s strength against the most fearsome of classical Greek elements FIRE! As you can see, it didn’t do too well.

Ants

Ever wondered what a concrete cast of an ants nest would look like?

I love ants, and bees, and social insects in general. The emergent power of the collective is facinating.

I’m reading Steven Johnson’s Emergence again at the moment, cracking book.

Jeff Rudell: His Career as a Papercrafter

This isn’t new, but I’ve never read it before, and maybe you haven’t either. Jeff Rudell is a paper sculptor in the US and regular contributor to CraftStylish.com, where he offers various papercraft projects.

In his article “Depth Charge: How to Make a Splash and Get Paid for it“, he talks about how he went from papercrafting as an evening hobby to papercrafting as a full time career.

“Despite not know where I was headed, I felt pretty confident that I would need a portfolio of work to show people whenever I got to wherever I was going. So I set out to hone my skills and build up a body of work that showed both my interests and my range.”

I know I’m not the only one who dreams of ditching my 9-5 and getting paid to do something that really excites me. However, wether I will or not is another thing. Either way I like to read “how I made it” stories, it makes that dream life feel a little closer.

Atheist Bus Campaign – Stickers!

A while back comedian Ariane Sherine, wrote an article asking atheists to donate money for an atheist ad campaign to respond to a recent christian campaign promising hellfire to nonbeleivers. Well it looks like she’s got the £11′000 she was after and more, so these adverts will be rolling out across London some time soon.

Now, I don’t live in London. In fact most people don’t live in London. So I, and most other non-London types, won’t ever see this campaign, which is a shame…

Wait one cotton picking, nose flicking, lolly licking minute! Why not print your own stickers, and slap them on every lamp post/ post box / hobo around!

You might want to print it on to a tee shirt, hat or cravat.
